Speaking during the event, MTN Uganda Chief Financial Officer Andrew Bugembe said the success of both tournaments reflected the company's continued commitment to creating opportunities and supporting the development of sport in Uganda.

“Our first partnership with Entebbe Club focused on strengthening the foundations of the game through infrastructure development. Together, we invested in facilities such as the MTN Pod and improvements around the clubhouse to enhance the experience for members and visitors while restoring the club's standing as one of Uganda's premier golfing destinations,” Bugembe said.

“As we renew this partnership, our focus shifts towards growing the game itself by making golf more inclusive and creating opportunities for both amateur and professional players. The introduction of the MTN Pro-Tee Series is a reflection of that commitment and marks an exciting new chapter for the sport.”

The week produced several memorable moments, including a remarkable hole-in-one by professional golfer Abbey Bagalana at the 154-yard par-three 12th hole, a feat that quickly became one of the highlights of the tournament.

When play concluded, Richard Mucunguzi emerged as the overall winner after carding an impressive 65 nett to claim top honours in the highly competitive field.

In the ladies' competition, Anne Abeja won Ladies Group A while Hellen Kisinde topped Ladies Group B.

Among the men, Saidi Kirarira won Group A, Philemon Akatuhurira claimed Group B and Daniel Kalungi emerged victorious in Group C.

Michael Monne won the seniors' category, while Eric Kawere was named the best guest golfer.

The tournament also recognised individual excellence, with Peace Kabasweka and Abel Okuna winning the ladies' and men's longest drive contests respectively. Pamela Tumusiime and Bbaale Yunus claimed victory in the nearest-to-the-pin competitions.

A major highlight of the closing ceremony was the renewal of the partnership between MTN Uganda and Entebbe Club, extending a collaboration that has played a key role in supporting the development of golf in Uganda.

Entebbe Club Chairman Eng. Jacob Byamukama welcomed the renewed partnership, describing MTN Uganda as a valuable partner in the club's efforts to grow the game.

“MTN Uganda has been a valued partner in our journey to grow the game of golf and create meaningful experiences for golfers at all levels. This renewal reflects a shared vision for the future and gives us confidence that together we can continue to elevate the standard of golf, attract more participation and create opportunities for the next generation of players,” he said.

While the initial phase of the partnership focused on infrastructure improvements at the club, the renewed agreement will place greater emphasis on talent development, competitive golf and increasing participation in the sport.

Officials said future editions of the MTN Quarterly Tee, MTN Grand Tee and additional legs of the MTN Pro-Tee Series will continue to provide pathways for both amateur and professional golfers.

The successful conclusion of the MTN Half Year Mug and the launch of the MTN Pro-Tee Series have been hailed as important milestones for Ugandan golf, with stakeholders expressing optimism about the future of the sport as investment and participation continue to grow.
